Organised
|
Ann has planted a garden so that she has fresh vegetables to eat. She has a daily routine so that all her jobs get done including collecting the eggs, milking the cows and crossing the date off on her calendar.

So I made several trips to the store for supplies. It was all canned stuff, of course, or dried. There would not be anything fresh except milk and eggs until I could get the garden going again.

Determination
|
She is determined to stay alive, she keeps the farm running and takes care of the animals, feeding them and milking them, she keeps the garden maintained and even thought she could have just ended her life she is truly determined to stay alive.

Brave
|
Ann was brave because she was one of the only ones left after the war, she was pretty much all alone she was brave to stay, and keep the farm working the way her parents once did.

He aimed the gun at me. I stood still. I could not think what to do, so that when words came from my mouth even i was surprised and not conscious of having thought. I realize now they probably saved my life.

Hard working
|
Hard working because she tries hard to keep things running the way her family used to, she is very hardworking to keep alive, finding food, getting clean water, looking after Loomis and animals.

Caring
|
Ann was caring because she looked after Loomis when he got radiation, she would get him water and food, help him get better, test the radiation in the water to see how bad it was.

Independant
|
Ann was independent being a 16 year old girl with her whole family having disappeared, leaving her to look after herself and the whole farm. She is an independent young woman to take care of herself and others in such a situation.
